Ill Manors e-media: website analysis

1) Examples of the Ill Manors branding can be shown with the logo that is present on the top left side. There is also the hashtag which also presents the Ill Manors brand. There is a link with Ben Drew who is the director for the film as this is also another aspect in the branding for Ill Manors as it would be shown with the logo as "Plan B Presents". This can show that Plan B is a major part in the promotion for Ill Manors. Another aspect of branding is the fact that it says "A Ben Drew Film" which can also emphasise as to how the director is a major part in promoting the film since this could show that Plan B has a strong following. Another part of the branding would be Riz Ahmed wielding the pistol. This character has been seen in a majority of the promotional material which could show that he is another strong aspect in promoting the film and the branding as a majority of the time we seen the character in adverts, we see him with the Ill Manors Logo.

2) The website tries to encourage people to buy the product by having to try and promote it in different ways. Some of these could include the graffiti on the wall of a house. The other way to promote the film would be through informing people at the top which offers a variety of methods for people to obtain Ill Manors.

3) The Plan B website features social media at the top right which links to the various social platforms that he would use. The website also features a variety of Plan B 's tweets in the homepage. He also features a filter on the wall that would feature content from a specific social platform such as Twitter or Instagram.

4) This text mainly talks about the unanswered questions such as why the riots occurred and how it could be prevented. This would talk about his opinions on the riots and how he thinks his media such as the Ill Manors music video would impact his audience. This is mainly shown with the links with texts such as the TEDx Lecture which although may not be of text but had still shared the same impact on changing the perception of people on youngsters after the events of the riots. He is mainly trying to combat the stereotype of young teenagers who are perceived as bad by giving them the spotlight in his music and his film Ill Manors.

5) Social Media is taking over for film promotion for what I think is an obvious answer: it's cheap. In comparison to having to pay a lot of money on print advert which could range from posters to billboards, they could instead promote the film in a cheaper option with tweets. This could link onto the Two Step Flow Model as to how opinion leaders can express their opinions and promote the film through word of mouth. Since these opinion leaders might have a strong or decent following, this might result in more awareness for the film. Twitter allows people to retweet their posts so that content such as trailers can be accessed by the many people who would have received this in their notifications and trust the content if they follow the opinion leader.

Ill Manors: e-media off-site research

Ill Manors Facebook page

2) The top of the page is promoting the film and the platforms that they are accessible for purchase.

3)

This appeals to the audience as the film has been nominated for two awards one being the album and one being the film itself. This appeals both to those who have watched the film but are also fans of Plan B's music, this appeals to a wider audience as it targets Plan B's core target audience and the target audience for the film.

This would appeal to the Plan B target audience as those who are of a younger age who are into acting would be able to take up on this opportunity. The target audience would be those who are inspired by films and want something to do with them and also Plan B is there to help out these children and this is an opportunity for them to get involved and change their life.

The target audience that liked both the film and the soundtrack of iLL Manors would be the main target audience for the film Offender, it would be under the same category and could possibly have the same impact that the film iLL Manors has. It promotes the film by talking about the trailer, the soundtrack, the actors and the director.

This will target mainly those were into the soundtrack of the film as well as the film itself, they would be those who are Plan B's core target audience before the film came out itself and are into the music that he makes. The target audience would be into the hip-hop rap genre and are likely to be fans of other rappers who have taken on the style of rap Plan B has seen to produce over the years.

This would target people who are into the NME music magazine and as it is promoting Plan B it would be targeted at those who are into the music that was in the film and it is a music magazine so it would be talking mainly about the soundtrack that the film had to offer. This would also be aimed at those who watched the film but also those who are fans of Plan B's music before the film came out.

4. There is cross promotion between the soundtrack of the film that has been identified in the music magazine and also the soundtrack of the film which has left a link for the audience to watch it.

There is also promotion between the film and the soundtrack of the film which is seen with the awards that the film could win at the BRITS which one of them is for the film and the other is for the soundtrack.

There is cross promotion between the film and the Johnathan Ross that Plan B was at to talk about his film. The show he attended was made after the film had been made for him to promote it on prime time TV for promotion so that more people can watch the film.

5. One of the competitions that you can enter can be to win a copy of the film, the audience finds a competition to be appealing and as a result they are more inclined to watch the film if they win.

There was also another one for those who have an interest for being in films or even helping direct, any sort of role to be able to make a film for those who are young and have a passion for it.

There is also a post asking if music can change things which allows people to interact with each other and get their view across. They are able to leave comments and discuss with one another their views.

6. There is a post which says people thoughts on iLL Manors track. This is repeated through the page so that people are able to talk about the soundtrack and as a result promote it and are able to listen to it.

There is also links to a YouTube page which has the songs and the soundtrack of the film on the Facebook page so for those who haven't gotten a chance to listen to the film or the soundtrack are able to do so.

7

8. They did this to promote the film through the Facebook page by putting up the trailer of the film so that people who visit the page are able to see the trailer of the film if haven't done so before. It tells us about the film and the release date of the film as well, it also promotes the book of the film.

    #PLANB

3. Josh Franceschi tweeted ''Watching iLL Manors with my mum. Explaining what 'fam' 'sket' 'wasteman' etc means before we start 'so she gets it'. This would appeal to a younger target audience as they would be able to understand what the words mean and could relate to this as their parents may also not understand what the words mean.

Ryan de la cruz tweeted "#ILLManors @iLLManors is out on DVD and Blu Ray also available online! #MustBuy #Support". This is targeting people who are into the hip hop rap genre that both Plan B and Ryan produce and promoting the film so that they are able to by the DVD.

BBC One radio also tweeted multiple times talking about Plan B and the film including the soundtrack, it will be promoting a wider audience for example those who are fans of BBC One, fans of Plan B's music and those who interested in watching the film.

4. Twitter uses links and pictures to promote the film, there are images of the actors of the film so they are recognizable to the audience, there are links which allow the audience to go onto YouTube so that they can watch the trailer of the film but also so that they can listen to the soundtrack of the film.

5.

Tag London is used to promote the film and those who are into things that are seen to be associated with urban culture such as graffiti, this is done to target a more urban audience and those who listen to rap and hip hop so that they can attract a wider target audience.

6. The Twitter page was promoting the film such as links to the soundtrack which is available on YouTube for the audience to listen to, trailers to the film and also pictures of the poster to the film so that the audience are able to see it.

Ill Manors on Instagram

1. Instagram promotes the film by showing videos and pictures of the film which are reposted so that they can promote the film. There would be pictures of Plan B and posters of the film which are able to be seen.

2.

This promotes the film after the release so that people who have watched the film or haven't can go to the shops and buy the film. This would be promotion for buying the film after being released in the cinema.

Ill Manors e-media: Tag London campaign

1) The Ill Manors tag London event was an interactive form of promotion since it had people express their opinions on London. Selected tweets would then be projected throughout London. These tweets would be presented in a graffiti style and created by the graffiti artists. This would present the views of those who don't usually give out their political view. These tweets would also have early access to the album on SoundCloud for people to access.

2) The Ill Manors Tag London campaign promotes the film in the sense that it would promote the film as it uses the track that was also used in the film trailer. In addition to this the hashtag #ILLMANORS is also used which can also

3) The synergy that is present in both Tag London and other formats of promotion is that they all promote the same film/album. Since Plan B directed Ill Manors and had produced the music for the film, the two would have similar aspects when they are being promoted. An example would be the use of music. The track that has been used in this advertising programme has been widely used in the other formats of promotion. An example of this would be the Film trailer which had also used this track in the trailer. This could be seen as a form of synergy. In addition to this, they also use synergy with the location of London being a part of the promotion. This would be evidenced as both the film and the event uses London but in different ways. However these different ways have a similar purpose. For instance, the film portrays the darker and bad side of London as it shows a more run down version of the city. Meanwhile, the Tag London event had presented the views of London from the perspective of people in twitter. A majority of the tweets that were presented in the  Tag London event had portrayed London as bad which was similar to the representation of London.

4) The user generated content would be more ideal to do since they might have had to try and make their community involved with expressing their opinions on topics. This would make Ill Manors more of an intriguing way to get people to watch as they might think that this is an interesting marketing scheme. Also those who would share the same opinions as the tweets would also feel intrigued into watching the film since they might want to see their opinions portrayed in film.

Ill Manors print: branding

1) The conventions in this include the title, review quotes, central image, institutions, release date, feature of website and social media, and the age rating.

2) Some of the design features that show the Ill Manors Brand is the use of the logo at the centre which is quite unique and people who recognise the film would recognise the film from the style of the font. In addition to this, the logo features "Plan B Presents" which would also be a significant feature that would signify to an audience that this would be of Ill Manors since this is his first and currently only film.

3) The synergy that is present in this example would be the reviews. Men's Health has talked about the film being "Powerful" and this link would show that they are trying to promote their film from positive reviews.

1) The conventions would include logo, tag line, date, and social media. All this could be useful for an audience who are interested in the film.

2) The design features include the logo that is presented at the centre which would suggest that it would be the main focus point on the film. Inn addition to this, Riz Ahmed is present which could suggest that his character is a part of the branding for Ill Manors.

3) The synergy that is present here would be the tag line. This tag line was present in the trailer which could suggest that this tag line could try and intrigue an audience into watching the film. Besides that this is a film poster that would promote he film quite like some of the articles which had also tried to promote the film.

1) This would attempt to advertise the album that would also release along side Ill Manors. Some of the convections could include the use of logo to signify that it is linked with the film. There is also a release date that would be seen as useful as it would try and purchase the album. And there is branding of Plan B which would try and promote the album.

2) The design features are quite similar as this uses that logo which takes up most of the space. In addition there is the "Plan B presents" which also takes up some space which could suggest it's significance in the promotion.

3) The synergy that is presented is the use of Plan B and Ill Manors as both would use them as branding to try and attract an audience into getting the album. There is also the use of #ILLMANORS which is npresented in print fort a majority of the time and the trailers.

Ill Manors: Print platform

Men's Health

1) The potential target audience for Men's Health would most likely be a young audience such as 16-34. This would target a young audience since Men's Health is based on the different sorts of health. This would be supported with the other articles that relate to health. It is a lifestyle magazine that would recommend the different sorts of people that are seen as having to try and promote different routines that may favour their readers. In addition to this, they also have articles that would relate to fitness so if they include a story like this, then this would be related to the audience and the magazine.

2) The article doesn't just entertain as there is a paragraph talking about the movie and what the film could be about with the use of rhetorical questions. This would rather inform an audience of what the film is about. Also it is also informative in the sense that there is the perspective of Plan B in this entire article that fans or readers might find useful to see a perspective that supports what the Men's Health magazine is about.

3) Conventions of a print interview include sub-headings that would give a basic understanding or introduce what the paragraph would be talking about. There are also photos of the subject or who the article is about. This would generally have the subject in a photo which would portray the topic to give it a dumbed down portrayal of the article as the photos would have synergy with the topic.

4) Narrative is used in this to describe the progression of Plan B's slimming down. He would talk about how he has gone through specific routines that would've helped him to slim down. The disequilibrium in this narrative would be the fat that he has. The new equilibrium would be that it's his slimmed down self that had resulted from the changes that he had to go through in order to become slim.

5) The synergy that I have identified which is present in this and the other broadcast examples would be that they promote Ill Manors. They both would talk about the film as both broadcast and this interview talks about topics that are covered. Other formats of synergy would also have the involvement of Ben Drew. His appearance in both print and broadcast would be seen as having similar purposes that would include trying to promote the film as well as himself.

NME

1) The other known magazine that would've featured Ben Drew would be NME. NME has been known for featuring music in a majority of the issues that they have had. They mainly feature music however there is the feature of films. So therefore this could be appealing to a younger audience. An example of this would be the different music that is available. I would say younger to an extent of young adults since the cover that was used in the issue which featured this article had Plan B smoking and "flipping the bird". The use of taboo language would link with the text that would show that Plan B is against David Cameron. This view on Plan B can give a hint as to who the target audience may be in a socio-economic value of C2DE. In addition to this there is the use of iconography with the cigarette and the taboo language would also make the cover attract to an urban audience. The age range would most probably 18-35 since it uses inappropriate language that wouldn't be approved for a young audience of children. The psycho-graphics that it appeals to could be the struggler as they may like what Plan B has to say considering that they don't like the ideals of the Conservative Party.

2) The article does more than entertain as it would have a minor form of informing its audience. This would be due to the fact that it talks about the film and David Cameron which an audience might find useful.

3) The convections that are used in the article include the use of quotations that would have been referenced from the interview that they had. Other convections could also include the use of pictures that would relate to the article and the topics that are mentioned and talked about.

4) Narrative is used in this to talk about Plan B's views on David Cameron at first. This would then transition to talking about the film and promoting the film and what it is about. The views on David Cameron could be one of the reasons that would make a reader read on as he would talk about his views.

5) The synergy between both broadcast and the print is that they both promote Ill Manors. They both would talk about the film and the viewpoints that are mentioned. This also promotes the album Ill Manors as well which can also be seen as synergy. The connections between the broadcast with SBTV and this article is that they both have a main focus on the director Plan B.

The Guardian

1) The target audience for The Guardian would be an audience of ABC1 and possibly a psychographic of the main-streamers as The Guradian does go over different topics that a majority would find interesting. However in this case we see Plan B who directed an independent film so this could tailor more of an explorer who would like to check out who Ben Drew could be. The age range could go from 18-35 so roughly a young adult age range.

2) The Audience Pleasures of the article could be to learn about the director of Ill Manors. This article does focus on Ben Drew's history so this could give insight to those who are unaware of how people like Ben Drew went into directing his first film. This could also give insight to the film and how he came up with Ill Manors as evidenced in the beginning of the article so that people can see where he had got his inspiration or motive to direct this film.

3) The codes and conventions in this would be the use of pictures and quotes throughout the whole article. There are also segments where the writer would also express its opinion to its readers.

4) The use of narrative in this article mainly focuses on Ben Drew's history as previously mentioned. This would talk about his teenage life and his career as a musician which talks about the origin of the chosen name "Plan B" as it talks about his first potential choice of a soul singer until he became a rapper who would make albums which talk about it.

5) The synergy between both article and the broadcast is that they both explore Ben Drew. For instance, the TEDx Lecture had expressed Ben Drew's past quite like this article. Other links could also include having to promote the film Ill Manors.

Daily Mail

1) The Daily Mail targets an audience of 18-55 so it would target an older audience who mainly have a right wing view on topics. This is heavily proven with the comments and the opinions about the film that are being talked about.

2) The article does more than entertain and try to demotivate the film by expressing bad views on the film to try and inform people of the bad nature of the film. In addition to this it also tries to talk about how bad the film is by having to try and talk about the different aspects that are featured in the film such as the connected narrative and mention how it is a mess.

3) The codes and conventions of the article is the use of quotes, images, and the opinions from the opinion leader in this two-step flow model.

4) The narrative that is featured in the article talks about his opinions about the film as he gets to his verdict by supporting it with his views and goes in depth with the different views that he has by explaining his views.

5) The synergy that is mentioned in this article and the broadcast is that they feature the film and the elements of the film that are included. Besides that this article goes against all the other views and opinions by having a bad perception on the film due to the way that they present London.

Ill Manors: Broadcast platform concluded

DVD extras
1) Plan B has presented his intentions in the film as presenting those who are deprived. he tries to give a voice to those who haven't showed their perception of society. Especially since the media would for a majority of the time have the poor presented as people who would then make it so that they could then make the characters as people who would be seen as fitting in the role. He tried to show a narrative that had a realistic theme so he had the actors based on a grim setting.

2) In his production process he wanted a realistic theme and aspect which would make the setting and narrative seem genuine. Since the budget was £80,000, the cast had come from the local or urban area which had also given the film a sense of realism. This would therefore some synergy between both cast and location as they would implement their experiences to the film.

3) The target audience could be suggested to a young audience since they could relate to the narrative that is being portrayed. However it has been argued in the extract that this would be targeted to an older audience. This would be due to the representation of young teenagers in the media. He wanted to present to his audience an alternate perception of the audience that would make the film more meaningful to the audience as he would send a message to the audience that young people aren't the enemy or the causers of destruction.

4) The film successfully does what Ben Drew wanted to convey to an audience. Plan B wanted to show an audience a world that would show the darker side of London and how people would survive in this area. In addition to this he also shows the consequences of entering a dark journey as well as escaping it. This could be evidenced with the various story arcs that were in the film. The first that I find slightly significant would be Jake Arc which started with him being promised a chance to hang out with the elders if he beats up his friend. In doing so this had linked a chain of events that would eventually lead up to his death. This would show that Plan B presents London as a dark place and a dangerous are that young teenagers can be influenced into changes. The significance of change is also shown in the promotional material with "We are products of our own environment" which had shown the significance of change and influence. Plan B shows that London can be a dangerous area and people should be more careful when they interact with the society that they are in.

Broadcast/online
1) SBTV is a YouTube channel that mainly presents music that would be appealing to a young viewer ship. This would be due to the feature of rap music that would ft the theme of rap and urban themed music. In addition to this they have a website which has other features of entertainment such as Technology, Fashion as well as featuring a news tab which covers different topics.

2) The audience appeal would be for a young audience. This would be due to the intro and the feature of rap artists and urban style music. The interview was also seen to be tailored towards a young audience due to the way that is wasn't professionally shot. It looked more amateur like citizen journalism which might attract a young audience who might be interested in this and who may have similar style of entertainment.

3) Plan B is presented as a hard-working as Ben Drew is seen working on his film. His work on the film would show his dedication. This might be an alternate reading in comparison to the representation of directors who would have a team produce the film. However we see Ben Drew producing the film as he is seen on his own trying to create Ill Manors. This would present Plan B as a potential one-man-army since he is working on his own in this scene.

Television
1) The Jonathan Ross Show had first aired on ITV1 after the downfall of BBC's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in July 2010. The Jonathan Ross Show was to act as the successor to the BBC One's variant and has been placed in prime time for an audience. It has mainly been a talk show which as featured guest stars being the selling point of the show as it would rely on the guests to intrigue their audience into watching the show.

2) The target audeince could be centred to a mature teenagers to young adults due to the various guests that would appear in the show. Especially with this scene, they don't censor the word "hoe" which could suggest that this would be more centred to an audience that would be interested in the entertainment industry or are interested in the people and topics that are brought up in the show.

3) The audience appeal could arguably be the guests. Although the show is called the "Jonathan Ross Show", he only hosts the show to talk to the guests who appear in the show. To enforce this, the guests in general have more space and screen time in the show which could support on the emphasis onto the guests being the main attraction for the viewer. Although the host isn't present throughout the show, he still talks about interesting questions that his target audience would be intrigued about which might make them more likely to watch the show.

4) Plan B is presented as an alternate view on the urban styled music. This is due to the topics that are covered in the interview. They would cover serious topics which heavily focus on Ben Drew and his life as a whole in comparison to the other artists that would be presented as enforcing an unlawful way of living. He wants to be a good role model understanding that his music would influence the many.

Radio
1) The listening figures have been listed as 10.44 million listeners as of 6th of August 2015. However I believe that there has been a decline in the number of listeners an this article would enforce that new media such as YouTube would be more likely to appeal to a younger audience. Especially since it would be more visually interesting. Another factor that would also present the sudden loss of figures could be the podcasts that might also be seen as a threat to radio stations as this would make figures go lower.

Source:http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/may/21/radio-1-loses-1m-listeners-nick-grimshaw-bbc-4-extra-6-music

2) The target audience could be seen as teenagers to young adults. The age range could be depicted as 13-25 since the interview talks about young teenagers. However the station as a whole could be targeted for a young audience due to the feature of modern and recent tracks.

3) Plan B promotes Ill Manors by talking about the film and featuring a segment of the track that would be used in the film. He also talks about how the film would attract an audience and how this would relate to today. He also talks about the creation of Ill Manors and how he might pursue a career in the future with filming.

4) The representation of Plan B can present him as a person who wants to subvert the perception of urban artists. This would be due to the messages that are portrayed in the tracks and film that he was producing. In addition to this, this would also portray Plan B as someone who cares for the deprived as he would talk about it in his interview.

Ill Manors: TEDx lecture

1) "Felt like they were ignored by society"
"We would let this music raise us...their words are what guided us"
" I tried in some ways, I guess, to be a father figure to these kids because they were parent-less"
"I believe that there is a demonisation of the youth throughout the media."
"It's a word that is used to ridicule and label people who come from a less educated background than the rest of society" Referring to the use of the word "chav"
" And all the money that was put into summer projects to keep these kids monitored and occupied [has gone]"

Overall Ben Drew wanted to become a "father figure" to those who were less fortunate. He talks about how those who are economically deprived are treated badly due to the bad representation that they have on the news. In addition to this, that may have been due to the fact that the young teenagers at the urban area disregarded the rules and had lived in the ways that the music has influenced them to behave. The fact that Ben Drew mentions that they are ignored could show that he is trying to present the deprived and poor in a subverted manor that are in his lyrics. He has also talked about how the definition of the word "Chav" has changed from something sincere to something that would be used to mock people who are poor. Ben Drew also made a twist of the use of chav to give it an acronym for "Chav" to make the use of it seem that they are being heavily offensive by calling them "Council Housed And Violent.

2) Plan B's view on the government is seen as against them. This is especially present when he makes fun of the "Hug a Hoodie" campaign which had shown his opinions as against the Conservative Party. In addition to this, he also mentions that he talks about those who are poor and aren't being supported. He wants to try and support them by producing this music that presents their perspective which might change something about them. Considering that he wanted to be a father figure could also show how he had wanted to be supportive. The paragraph that talks about helping others shows that he wants a government that could support them and not ignore them. And so this could further enforce his ideals of helping them since a majority of his lyrics are words which talk about the deprived and how they are suffering due to what the current government are doing. He also talks about his education and how he had left school at Year 10 but was transferred to a pupil referral unit called the Tunmarsh Centre in Plaistow. This place had supported people who were poor or were disadvantaged in any sort of way and he had said that this would be ideal for them. However the funding for the summer projects would be gone since there wouldn't be enough money to host these events.

3) The target demographic would be a socio-economic class of C2DE. This would be due to the fact that the topics that he go through mainly cover the poor and what they go through. It would be seen as displeasing to an audience who  has a social class of ABC1 since they wouldn't agree with the ideologies that are being spoken about by Plan B. In addition to this, this would fit an age group of 13-24 since this could relate to them and how young adults are represented in the media.  They might relate to the stories and the subjects that are covered by Plan B. This could compare to the audience that he has for his music videos and those who purchase his albums whether it would be a physical copy or digitally downloaded since the points that he goes through are similar to the lyrics in his album. This can be especially evident when he had played his music in his lecture which could suggest that he is addressing is audience that would enjoy listening to his music. In addition to this since both the topic of the lecture and the track have similar ideologies, this could further enforce his ideals to the audience and can prove that the audience for both are similar if not the the same.

4) Plan B mentions that the media "demonises the youth". This would be due to the fact that the London Riots were heavily present in his music video. This would suggest that he is using the moral panic to present to his audience that the media would portray young teenagers as the cause of the damage that has been caused. In addition to this there is the false portrayal of young teenagers in the news that Plan B has been against and he would like to change how the media behaves with young teenagers. Especially with the use of Chav. Ben Drew also talks about how the media uses that word present the young teenagers as young fire starters that cause huge damage. Young teenagers might want to listen to the lyrics of the music instead rather than watch the news since they would always have a bad representation so this could be the link as to why young teenagers aren't interested in the news. Considering the Wikipedia definition, this would make teenagers as quite fearful and so this would cause people to have a false image in their mind as to the fact that teenagers are bad which would in general support the idea of a hypodermic syringe since they aren't being active viewers by trusting the news but rather not questioning the representation of the news.

Ill Manors music video: blog task

Media Forms
This is typical for a music video since this looks visually similar to a montage. This is due to the fast editing and the choice of scenes that would depict this of a sort of music video to do this sort of thing. This can be seen as a symbolic element of the video in the sense that this music video presents scenes based on the London riots however the lyrics that are in the music video contradict the scenery in the film. The singer is also shown with the performance element that is present in a majority of the video. This performance element strikes a resemblance to the actions that occur which relate to the London Riots since he is presented near the end with the  Other visuals would also include the use of photography and images. This would also make the music video visually interesting. Especially considering that there is the use of newspaper covers which is parallel to the lyrics which give it a sense of synergy.

This could arguably be a mix of both diegetic and non-diegetic since Plan B's singing is also used as narration to explain some of the scenes that are in the music video. The use of diegetic can be used to explain the scenes this might be parallel to the lyrics. Other sections of diegtic sounds would be when he shouts "Oi" which is enforced with a performance element. This could suggest to an audience that he is actually shouting out these words rather than having a voice-over behind the footage that would be played. Besides that, the majority of the lyrics that are performed by Plan B are contrapuntal to the footage most of the time. This can be due to the use of lyrics that are against what is shown in the video as this could give a binary opposition in the video since the perception of teenagers and violence are contradictory to the lyrics perception. The video shows the teenagers as violent criminals which could be used for an audience to identify who they are which supports Medhurst's theory of simplified stereotypes to help an audience identify who is on screen.

The music video is also thematic. This would suit the theme of a crime drama due to the iconography of the police used in various clips. In addition to this, there is also the feature of violence and theft that surrounds an urban area. This could present a strong thematic element in the music video since urban areas are mainly seen as a  dangerous area to go around.

Media Representations
The representation of the location in the music video shows that it is a grim area. This is due to the use of estates and local areas that are mainly run by young ASBOs who are seen as quite dangerous. In addition to this, there is the scenery of destruction that is used is to enforce the young people as a dangerous threat that might make London seem dangerous rather than a very safe area. Another piece of evidence that would present this urban side of London as a dangerous threat would be the amount of ASBOs in the area. This could also present that urban London is run or controlled by a young force that isn't controlled by authority such as Police.

The representation of people in the video presents the majority of the population to be black in most of the mobs who are seen as black which could present them as criminals. As previously mentioned Medhurst mentioned shorthand stereotypes that would be used to try and distinguish to an audience between people who are seen as bad or evil in comparison to the Police. This would enforce the ideas that teenagers are seen as trouble makers since  Plan B uses young people as a choice in his music video. There is also the costume choice that also makes a stereotypical representation of troublesome crimnals that would support Medhurst's shorthand stereotypes. The main use of hoodies, caps, and bandanas could suggest the sense of danger that makes London look dangerous due to the people that are present in the video.

Age is one last factor that creates a bad image for the people who are of a similar age group. This would be evidenced with the scenes of young teenagers committing crimes and causing destruction in the streets of London. They are seen as dangerous due to the way that they are shown in the clip. The use of age had also depicted that young people are easily influenced into these gangs since a majority of the people who have appeared are mainly young in the gangs that surround Ben Drew.

 Media Audiences
An audience might be interested in the different aspects that would relate to them. One of them would be the location. The use of the urban area could be used to relate to the audience that it is marketed at. There are locations such as the Olympics Stadium which is a signification that this is London. Medhurst's shorthand stereotypes can also present to the audience that the location that they are at is London so that the audience who come from London  would recognise the location since they might be familiar with the area that this music video was filmed in.

The urban lifestyle which would be evidenced by the clothing can be seen as quite familiar since they might recognise the clothing that they are wearing. This could also help them understand who they are since shorthand stereotypes present the people who wear hoodies as bad people since a majority of the people who would be affiliated with gangs would wear that sort of clothing which gives it a sense of iconography since this is a common appearance for those who would live in deprived areas.

And finally the violence and action codes that are present in the music video could be seen as an audience pleasure. This would be due to the fact that a majority of Plan B's fan base could be seen as male and of low social class. The use of violence would depict that the audience would mainly consist of teenagers since they would be attracted to the action that would be present in the film.

Media Institutions
The music video help promote the video by using synergy with the title of the track and the movie. Those who would like the track might want to purchase the track or research about the track and others that are includes in the soundtrack for Ill Manors. In addition to this, the use of the title would also make it so that those who are interested in the film via trailer might want to check out the music. The track might potentially also promote the track that was developed by Plan b since those who liked this track might be interested in more tracks familiar to the  current track. In convenience since the Ill Manors soundtrack was developed by the music artist, they might also be interested in how the movie could be interesting to them.

In addition to the topic of synergy, there were appearances of the actors who were present in the Ill Manors film. This could also promote the film because viewers might be familiar with the character in the trailer and to see that they are also seen in the music video could leave them intrigued. This could link with Barthes' enigma code in the sense that the viewers may want to know what role that character plays in the film as well as the significance in the music video. The use of the characters could also make a direct link between both film and music video in a narrative sense.

Finally the next factor that would promote the film via the music video would be the setting and locations that were used. A majority of the scenes used were quite reminiscent to the London Riots of 2011 which might be the message that Plan B is trying to deliver. The overall destroyed scenery of London which is run by young teenagers in an urban area could also bring synergy to the narrative that is present in the film. To add to this, the locations used could also present the genre that the film is about which could promote the film to a young teenager audience who would be interested in a film that would be related to crime.
